Was there really any certain reason why this fiery little red-head wanted to head to the lake?
...Probably not. No, none that she could think of.
But she really just wanted to be there. No doubt about that. The lake always held a special little effect over her, even though she didn't really show it. It was always whenever she really wanted to think she'd head out there. Well that or wanting to relax.
So, she jogged down to the lake and headed for the rock she usually sat on. She hopped up and took her shoes off and placed her feet in the lake. She smiled slightly before lettin her mind wander, lettin her thoughts process.
Of course, the first couple thoughts were about her family. Mommy, daddy, Bill, Charlie, Fred and George and Ron. She hardly considered Percy to be a part of the family anymore. The worthless caw faced git. He really was a loser.
Then, her thoughts drifted to Harry and Hermione. She really was lucky to have such people like them. She loved them so much, and they were practically family. Lastly, her thoughts drifted to Draco.
Never NEVER would she have thought that she'd befriend Draco Malfoy. Slytherin Prince and a complete jackass since the well, beginning of her life. But here she was, closer to him. No doubt about that. The summer really changed everything. But it did bring a smile to her face.

He had never felt so bored in his entire life. Well that probably wasn't true but still. Unable to sit in the common room any longer he left and started wondering around the grounds. He walked along the edge of the forbidden forest, past Hagrid's Hut, and almost everywhere else he could think of.
But he was still so very bored. Changing direction he started towards the lake where he saw a familiar red head sitting on a rock. This time last year if you would have told Draco Malfoy, Slytherin Prince, he was going to grow closer to Ginny Weasley, he would have hexed them and checked them into St.Mungo's, because that simply wasn't possible.
He never thought one summer would change everything but it did. Over the summer the two had grown closer, much closer than anyone would have thought possible. Approaching her he sat down next to the rock and glanced up at her. "Hey Gin." he greeted her warmly, warmer than he would have greeted her weasel brother.

Ginny smiled at the sound of the waves lapping against the rock she sat on. It really was rather calmin. So serene, so peaceful. Perfect for her and her thoughts.
So, even though she had spent about a minute or two on all the people aforementioned, Draco seemed to be takin up most of her thoughts. That probably wasn't so bad considerin the fact that they grew close, much to the displeasure of her brother.
But then again, when had Ginny ever done anything to please her brother?
So, here she was. Just her and her thoughts. Well, that was until she heard a familiar voice. She didn't have to look to see who it belonged to. That familiar drawl was one that mocked her previously. That same one was now the one who greeted her warmly. "Hey Draco." she said sweetly, lookin towards him as he sat next to her. "how have you been?

If Draco smiled alot this would have been the time. Ginny had turned to him and greeted him sweetly, something he certainly wasn't accustomed to from most girls. Apart from Pansy whose sweetness was fake.
"I've been good Gin. As good as anyone would be who is getting lectured on their maturity and duties." he said. Granger had already had one of those with him already. "What about you? How've you been?" he asked.
He was concerned that Ronald would be giving her grief again. Though he knew Ginny was more than capable of taking care of herself, her legendary Bat Bogey Hex was known by all.

Ginny gave him a rather nice dimply smile. The one that she seemed to give to only him, which was rather interesting. She had different smiles for different people. But she always seemed to give Draco her best smile. Maybe it was because of the fact that they had become friends. Because he had proven her wrong about who he truely is. About what he was taught.
'I've been good Gin' She was about to say something but he continued. 'As good as anyone would be who is getting lectured on their maturity and duties She tilted her head slightly to one side. "Who's been lecturing you Draco?" she asked curiously. Probably Hermione. She seemed to be the only lecturing type. Ginny loved Hermione like a sister, but sometimes she's just gotta realize to not lecture people and let them live their lives.
'What about you? How've you been? "As great as anyone who's got an overprotective brother can be." she said with a soft sigh. Ron was bein way to crazy. He like practically freaked because of the fact that Ginny was friends with Draco. No, corrention, he freaked and had a litter of kittens.
..Err, the last part was just a joke.

"Who's been lecturing you Draco?" she asked. Just by the sound of her voice he knew she was curious. She probably already knew the answer otherwise he would have had fun making her guess. "Granger as usual. I'm used to it now though." he said.
Anyone who knew Hermione knew what her lectures were like. He was just thankful Ginny's brother got the most of it. "As great as anyone who's got an overprotective brother can be." "Is he still going on about us being friends?" Draco asked. Maybe he could get Hermione to start her maturity speech on Ronald, he really deserved it.
"I could give him a detention if he keeps bugging you about it. I can do that you know." he suggested lightly. He didn't think Gin would agree to that but it was always an option if someone annoyed you.

'Granger as usual. I'm used to it now though. "Do you want me to talk to her and get her to stop?" she asked him softly. She'd do it. She loved Hermione but gettin constant lectures from her could be rather annoying. Ginny knew, she had been on the recieving end quite a couple times.
'Is he still going on about us being friends?' She sighed and nodded. "He still considers you to be the same Draco you were when you guys first met. A spoiled snob." she said with a head shake. "But I don't think of you like that. I'm glad I got to know the real you, instead of what my brother says." At the mention of her brother she couldn't help but roll her eyes. He was so childish sometimes it wasn't even funny.
'I could give him a detention if he keeps bugging you about it. I can do that you know She smiled. "Thanks for the suggestion, but its ok." she said. "He'll grow up eventually. It'll just take a little while longer."

"Do you want me to talk to her and get her to stop?" she asked him softly. Draco smiled and looked over at her. "No it's good. I just let her go on and on while my mind wanders to other more pleasant things." he said. He didn't elaborate on what those things were, they were open to one's imagination.
"He still considers you to be the same Draco you were when you guys first met. A spoiled snob." she said with a head shake. "But I don't think of you like that. I'm glad I got to know the real you, instead of what my brother says." Draco rolled his eyes with her about her brother. Normally he would say that Ron was just the same old Weasel but he felt that'd be insulting Ginny to, and that's something he didn't want to do. "His loss. You know the real me and that's all that matters."
"Thanks for the suggestion, but its ok." she said. "He'll grow up eventually. It'll just take a little while longer." Oh well, so he'd lost his chance to punish Ron but Ginny was right. Knowing Ron he'd take most of the year to grow up as much as everyone else had. "Do you know what you're doing the rest of the day?" he asked curiously.

No it's good. I just let her go on and on while my mind wanders to other more pleasant things Ginny giggled at this. She let that happen too sometimes when Hermione was on a complete rampage. Ginny'd let her mind wander off to think about whatever. But she was rather curious as to what Draco thought about, but figured she'd try and figure it out before askin him.
His loss. You know the real me and that's all that matters. Ginny nodded. "I'm glad I got to know the real you Draco, cause the real you is rather special." she said with a smile to him. It was true. He was a sweetheart to her, and she loved that in him.
Do you know what you're doing the rest of the day? Ginny took a couple moments to think about this. What exactly was she going to do for the rest of the day? She had no clue. "Well, I actually have no idea." she said with a laugh. "What are you gonna do?" she asked with a smile.

He wasn't sure how to respond to this, because even though he had changed, he still wasn't good with talking about his feelings. But he wanted her to know that he appreciated that she thought the real him was special. "Thanks, no one's ever thought that before." he said.
"Well, I actually have no idea." she said with a laugh. "What are you gonna do?" she asked with a smile. "I don't have any idea's either. Maybe we could sneak out or find something to do around the grounds?" he asked.

Thanks, no one's ever thought that before Ginny smiled. Sure he wasn't completely open just yet, but he was still sweet. "Well, I am just statin the truth. Wouldn't say anything other than that." she said with a nod.
don't have any idea's either. Maybe we could sneak out or find something to do around the grounds? "Oooh, sneakin out sounds like fun! But where too? Hogsmeade?" she asked him. Sneakin out really was rather excitin. Maybe it was cause there was always a sense of danger cause you never know whats out there.
