In the midst of darkness at Hogwarts, Muggleborn Hermione Granger felt herself needing a strong man by her side, and it seemed only right to have that strong man be the same one who had been by her side all along. Sure, Ron Weasley was no Knight in Shining Armor, but he was a Knight, and was the brave soul who had stood by her and helped in the guidance of the Chosen One. Besides, everyone thought they should have gotten together long ago. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger had been dancing around their attraction for one another and doing absolutely nothing about it.
Meanwhile, Ron wasn't having much luck as the Gryffindor Blood Traitor. Now that the Junior Deatheaters pretty much ran the school, he didn't have much input in things. It seemed, in this dark and depressing time, that everyone needed a cheer up, and Ronald Weasley finally had ventured to do what his heart begged of him. On one peaceful autumn day he asked Hermione Granger to be his girfriend in the middle of the Gryffindor Common Room for all the world to see.
Things would come crashing down on Christmas. The couple had decided to stay at Hogwarts because, quite frankly, they weren't certain hows safe the outside world was for people like them. A Muggleborn and a Blood Traitor. How were they to know that Victor Krum would be in Hogsmeade the same day they had decided to go? They hadn't, of course, but the strings of fate have funny ways of turning up at the most unlikely of times. Ron was in for a very un-Merry Christmas. Hermione accepted Victor's offer to spend Christmas with him, and so the couple and Victor opened gifts, drank Cocoa, and engaged in Christmas pleasantries in Victor's very upscale London apartment. Hermione had spent the entire evening talking and flirting much to Ron's chagrin. Now Hermione never had seen herself as the cheating type, and so she didn't do so, but for the next month every time she kissed Ron, she wished it was Victor. Everytime she saw the red haired boy all she could think of was the warm feeling of Victor, his strong arms and his steady eyes.
Eventually, Hermione came clean, dumped an emotional mess of a red haired boy, and developed a relationship with Victor Krum, who she saw as much as humanly possible. The fact that she was dating the legendary Quidditch player also meant people didn't torment her as much. Now, she had real protection.
Bloody happy way for Ickle Ronnikins to ring in the New Year, eh?
As for Ron, he was crushed. He had always wanted to date Hermione, hell, he could have seen them married. But obviously that couldn't happen. He wasn't big, he wasn't strong. He was just a red haired teenager in an emotional funk. Cue Lavender Brown, a flirtatious classmate who Ron has known for years. It seems that she is the medicine that Ron needs to break out of his period of sadness. Sure, they dated once before, but this time Ron finds himself in the midst of a love that he never wants to stop. Ron is happier than ever.
Lavender, upbeat in even the darkest of ways, has quit her somewhat promiscuous ways in favor of a relationship with one red haired Knight in Shining Armor that she has been thinking about since her Sixth year. Turns out that his tactical chess skills can be used rather nicely in other places. As for Hermione, will she begin to see Ron with the Knight he really is? And if so, will Ron be willing to bounce back from his sucessful relationship with Miss Brown?
What will be their happily ever after... ?[/size]
