Essential Rules To Remember
- The number one rule of dodgeball: no complaining. Although we certainly aren’t playing the sport of the gods, this rule heavily applies to this site. Don’t complain on the c-box that an admin hasn’t looked at your application yet. Don’t complain that no one’s posted in your open thread or in your plotting thread. Don’t complain that your character isn’t getting any; because, frankly, I don’t care! Complaining is turning into one of my biggest pet peeves and it won’t be tolerated on the site. You can complain if something is genuinely wrong with the site, like someone is harassing you over the PM system; that’s perfectly fine. Just don’t complain about the little things.
- Don’t challenge and/or question the administrating staff’s authority. I’ve owned more than enough role playing boards and I can safely say that I know what I’m doing. Don’t ask me why there aren’t any reservations, because I’ll say I said so or I made it that way. Don’t ask me why there’s a character limit, because I’ll say I made it that way as well. You’re going to have to trust the admins on every decision we make.
- I'm a 'three strikes you're out' girl. If there's a rule infraction, I'll post a warning. After three warnings, you're going to be banned from the site for three days. If the problem keeps reocurring, you're going to be banned permanently. Keep in mind that this applies to most of the rules, including the no complaining, no challenging authority, the posting limit, fighting, spamming in the c-box, and staying in character. It pretty much applies to everything except for the obvious.
Registering & Creating Your Character
- Really, you should check the canon character list and member list to see that your character hasn’t been taken or accepted already. It’d be pointless to sign up if they were.
- Register with a first and a last name. Fairly self explanatory.
- There will be absolutely no reservations. At all. I don’t have to explain myself.
- Anyone can post an application for a character. What will happen is that if or when we have more than one person competing for a character, the admins will wait until everyone is finished (usually a time limit of three days) judge them, and then accept the best one.
- There is a character restriction, so listen up. When you first join the board, you may have up to two characters, regardless of their gender. They can be two males, two females, or one male one female. After that, you’re going to have to wait until both characters have a combined post count of fifty (50) in order to make another character.
- Mary Sues are a big no-no. Your character cannot be perfect. Your character cannot have a flawless appearance. Your character cannot be intelligent, hilarious and popular. Your character cannot be any of these combined things. I expect females who are over the height of 5'6" to be at least 120 lbs. Give them flaws. A nice tip from Tracy is to make your character’s actual written appearance lack-luster, and then find the most gorgeous celebrity out there. I don’t care. I only care about what is written. If you do not follow this rule, I will tell you to change your writing. I can wait.
- Original characters are not allowed to be in the Order of the Phoenix.
Role Playing
- Please, and I really ask very nicely, try to make an effort with your posts and write at least two decent paragraphs, six to eight sentences per paragraph; or more than three hundred words. I really want this to be a high intermediate to advanced role playing site, and my dreams will be crushed if I see a bunch of one liners.
- The site is rated M, meaning mature. There will be some topics that may be sensitive to those of said disposition. However, these subjects will be marked ‘Mature’ as followed. Everyone should be able to edit their topic title and description. Try to avoid explicit sex scenes for those who don’t want to read it (i.e., me) and keep the swearing to a godly amount.
- STAY IN CHARACTER. Gosh.
- There will be no arguing on this board whatsoever. That goes for the c-box as well. If you do get into some sort of argument, I suggest you just sit and chill, and wait for the other person to get bored of smacking you. If there is excessive fighting you will be punished. We can ban, you know.
Other Areas
- Graphics will be limited as followed; your signature image can be a maximum of 500 pixels in width and 300 pixels in height, your avatar image has a maximum of 150x150 and you may have up to six icons in your signature should you wish.
- You must claim your played-by in the avatar claim thread once you have been accepted. To prove to the admins that you have read the rules thus far and will continue reading them (don't cheat now) put bananas of the world unite! at the top of your application. Your played-by must be human bone and flesh, absolutely no drawings. Your play-by also must look the part – there’s no use in having Ewan McGregor play a fifteen year-old, because he doesn’t look fifteen.
- Advertising may only be done in the appropriate forum.
- And for Pete’s sake, don’t spam in the c-box. You can write more than two words in the box thing, so your idea probably won’t take five lines to explain.
- If you piss the admins off, they will eat you. End of story.
